When there are two consonants in the middle, you
should divide between the consonants

Unless they blend into one sound such as “ph” and
“ch” NEVER DIVIDE these one sound

When one consonant appears between two vowels5, it will
most likely be in the same syllable as the second vowel.

consonant blend6 a combination of two consonant letters- both letters can be heard ( bl-ack)
